Am I the only one who thinks that this thing looks absolutely amazing?

Great looking cars in person...but when I see them I just can't help but think that a car that big with that much power is FWD, and it turns me off.

It's a handsome car indeed.

I am so disappointed they no longer offer a manual, or even a conventional Auto-box with paddle-shifters. That it's only a CVT ruins the whole car for me.

Ah, yes, I thought so.
We don't get these here so I've never seen one. Kind of a turn-off for me to.
So it's a Camry competitor, I suppose?

It's bigger...more like an Avalon competitor I guess.

It still does 0-60 in less than 6...

But it's still CVT.

They kept harping on about the return of the 4-door sports car. Not even close.

You mean it doesn't jerk and lurch like a DCT? You're right. That does sound more sporty.

Don't know what DCTs you drive...you make it sound like they break your back in daily driving.

CVTs are okay but in a performance car like that? Give 3 pedals or DCT based paddles,

It's not that they break my back, but the "transmission of the future" really oughta not do that shit. It's so annoying. And everyone else is okay with it, and I don't get it. Like I really have no idea. If CVTs did that, you'd all be crucifying them for it.

The only DCT I've experienced that had lurching problems was on early VAG group DCTs and on my Focus. A TSB 2 months down the line fixed that. Even Hyundai's relatively weak DCT doesn't lurch or jerk or in any other fashion make me want to shoot the ECU in the circuit boards.

I've never come across anything out of the VAG group recently that does what you describe, hell I've gone around in a F12 and it felt smoother than ZFs 8 speed...

Maybe I'm just more sensitive to it. You're Canadian. It's not your fault.

I do.

That's why I bought one.

I will probably opt for a car with actual gears (manual or auto) and AWD or RWD next, but it has been a stalwart companion for these past 4 years and if the next Max has either of those requirements covered, it will be shortlisted for a re-buy.
